Buyer
There's some rust around the wheel well, isn't there?
Seller
That's just surface stuff, it hasn't eaten into the frame at all.
Buyer
Mind if I pop the hood and take a look at the engine?
Seller
Go ahead, though fair warning, it could use a good cleaning.
Buyer
Wait, is that oil leaking near the bottom of the engine?
Seller
Honestly, that's probably just a bit of residue from the last oil change.
Buyer
I'd feel better if a mechanic checked that before we go any further.
Seller
That's fair, I'd rather you trust the car than rush into buying it.
Buyer
How many miles does it have on it, exactly?
Seller
Just under ninety thousand, and it's had regular maintenance the whole time.
Buyer
Do you still have the service records to prove that?
Seller
Yeah, they're all in the glove compartment, feel free to look through them.
Buyer
Alright, if the mechanic gives it the green light, I'm interested in negotiating.
Seller
Sounds good, just let me know once you've had it inspected.
